Arizona Sex Offender Registry
A conviction for many sex crimes will lead to registration as a sex offender with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. In almost all cases, registration is for life. There are three levels in the Arizona Sex Offender Registry:
Level 1 — Local law enforcement will maintain information about the offender and they may notify the people with whom the offender resides.
Level 2 — Notification may be made to the immediate neighbors, schools, appropriate community groups and prospective employers. This may include a flyer with a photo, identification of the area where the offender resides and a brief summary of the offender’s status.
Level 3 — Notification is made to the surrounding neighborhood, area schools, appropriate community groups, and an offender’s prospective employer. A flyer will be distributed which includes the offender’s photo, address, and a summary of the offender’s status. A press release will be given to the media.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety also posts the names, photos and information about Level 2 and Level 3 offenders on a dedicated Web site.
